Vape Pod Systems & Kits
A vape pod system balances a small size, simple use and everyday performance. These compact devices use removable pods instead of threaded tanks. That makes them easier to carry and usually simpler to care for than larger vape setups.
We carry refillable pod kits, draw-activated devices, adjustable pod systems and higher-power pod mod kits from makers like SMOK, Geekvape, Vaporesso, OXVA, Uwell, VOOPOO and more.
Features vary a lot between models. Before you choose a pod kit, think about how it fires, if the pod is refillable and how you change the coil. Also check the resistance options, battery size, airflow and power range.
What Is a Vape Pod System?
A vape pod system is a compact vaping device that uses a removable cartridge, or pod. The pod holds e-liquid and connects the heating coil to the battery. Depending on the design, the cartridge may have a built-in coil, or you install the coil on its own.
Pod systems range from basic draw-activated devices with no settings to advanced kits with screens, adjustable wattage, airflow controls and several coil options. With this range, adults can pick a portable device without having to settle for one style of hardware.
Most pod kits come with the device and at least one cartridge that fits it. E-liquid, extra pods and coils may come as separate products. Check what’s in the box on each product page before you order.
Types of Vape Pod Systems
Simple Draw-Activated Pod Systems
Simple pod systems put ease of use first. Most turn on when you inhale through the mouthpiece. They may have no fire button, screen or wattage control.
These compact devices often use integrated-coil cartridges. You replace the whole cartridge when it stops working well. The resistance you pick may change how tight, warm or open the draw feels, even when the device sets the power on its own.
- Fires when you inhale
- Small and light
- Few controls or settings
- Built-in battery you recharge
- Pods made for that device
Standard Refillable Pod Kits
Refillable pod kits give you a bit more control and are still easy to use. Depending on the model, they may have a fire button, adjustable airflow, several pod resistances or some power control.
Some use cartridges with built-in coils. Others take a coil you can replace on its own. Check which design the kit uses before you buy spare parts.
- Refillable cartridges
- Fires by draw or by button
- Several pod resistances
- Adjustable airflow on some models
- USB charging
- Battery or status lights
Adjustable Pod Systems
Adjustable pod systems give you more control over power or airflow and keep the small size of a pod kit. Many have a small screen that shows wattage, battery level, coil resistance and other details.
How much you can adjust varies by device. Some models detect the pod you put in and suggest a power range. Others let you set the wattage yourself, within the device’s limits.
- Adjustable wattage or power modes
- Airflow control
- A screen with device details
- Several pods or coils that fit
- Built-in safety features
Pod Mod Kits
Pod mod kits pair a removable pod with features you usually find on larger vape devices. Compared with basic pod kits, they may offer higher wattage, larger batteries, replaceable coils and more open airflow.
Some pod mods have a built-in battery. Others need an external battery that fits, and it may come as a separate product. Check the specs and what’s in the box before you order.
- Higher power ranges
- Adjustable wattage and airflow
- Pods that hold more e-liquid
- Work with replaceable coils
- Built-in or external batteries
Open Pod Systems and Refillable Cartridges
Open pod systems use cartridges you fill with a suitable bottled e-liquid. When the cartridge is empty, you open the fill port and refill the pod, following the maker’s instructions.
Some open pods have a built-in coil, so you replace the whole cartridge when the coil wears out. Others use an empty cartridge that takes a removable coil.
If you already own a device and only need cartridges, see our replacement vape pods. If your cartridge takes a separate coil, you may also need one from our vape replacement coils collection.
MTL Pod Systems and More Open Draws
MTL pod systems usually give a tighter mouth-to-lung draw at lower power. Higher-resistance pods often go with this style, but resistance alone does not set the airflow or performance.
Other pod kits allow a more open draw: restricted direct-lung or direct-lung. These devices may use lower-resistance coils, higher wattage and more airflow. Always choose from the pods and coils the maker lists for the device, not by resistance alone.
How to Choose the Right Vape Pod Kit
The right pod kit for you depends on how much control you want and how much upkeep you’re willing to do. Compare these details before you choose:
- Pod design: Find out if the cartridge is refillable or prefilled, and if the pod has a built-in or removable coil.
- Activation method: Choose draw firing, button firing or a device with both.
- Resistance options: Look at the pods or coils that fit and the kind of draw each one gives.
- Power control: Decide if you want automatic power or wattage you can adjust.
- Airflow: Check if the airflow stays the same, changes when you turn the pod, or has a control on the device.
- Battery capacity: Compare battery size, the charging port and if the battery comes built in or on its own.
- Replacement availability: Make sure you can get pods and coils that fit the device family.
- Package contents: Check what’s in the box, and if you need to buy e-liquid, spare pods, coils or batteries on their own.
Integrated-Coil Pods vs. Replaceable-Coil Pods
Integrated-Coil Cartridges
An integrated-coil cartridge has the heating coil built into the pod for good. When flavor or vapor drops off, you replace the whole cartridge. This design makes coil changes simple and leaves you fewer parts to manage.
Replaceable-Coil Cartridges
A replaceable-coil pod uses a reusable empty cartridge with a removable coil. When the coil wears out, you replace it and keep using the cartridge, as long as the pod is still clean, not damaged and sealing well.
Neither design is better for everyone. Integrated cartridges put ease first. Replaceable-coil pods let you change the heating part on its own.
Pod Resistance and Device Power
Pod resistance, in ohms, can affect the right power level, warmth, airflow and vapor. The whole device and the pod design matter just as much as the resistance number.
- Higher-resistance pods: Usually run at lower wattage and may give a tighter, cooler draw.
- Mid-range pods: Often balance warmth, airflow and battery use.
- Lower-resistance pods: May take higher power and give a warmer, more open draw.
Use only pods and coils that the maker lists for the device. Two pods with the same resistance may work differently because of their heating surface, airflow and mode.
Maintaining a Refillable Pod System
Pod systems need less upkeep than many tank setups, but regular care helps them keep working well.
- Prime new pods or coils as the maker’s instructions say.
- Keep the e-liquid above the open wicking ports.
- Close the fill port tight after you refill.
- Wipe condensation from the pod base and device contacts.
- Stay within the device’s wattage range.
- Stop using a pod if it cracks, breaks or leaks.
- Replace the pod or coil when the flavor stays burnt or performance drops.
Vape Pod System FAQ
What is a vape pod system?
A vape pod system is a compact device with a removable pod. The pod holds e-liquid and connects the heating coil to the battery. Depending on the model, the pod may have a built-in coil or take a separate coil you can replace.
How does a refillable pod kit work?
A refillable pod kit uses a cartridge with a fill port for bottled e-liquid. The device powers a built-in or removable coil inside the cartridge. You can refill the pod until the coil or cartridge needs replacing.
What comes with a pod system kit?
It varies by model. A kit usually has the device and at least one pod that fits. Some also come with a charging cable, spare pods or coils. Unless the listing says so, you buy e-liquid and external batteries on their own.
What is the difference between integrated-coil and replaceable-coil pods?
With an integrated-coil pod, you replace the whole cartridge when the coil wears out. A replaceable-coil pod uses a reusable cartridge, and you replace only the coil.
Do all replacement pods fit every pod system?
No. Each pod has a shape, connection, airflow and coil type made for certain devices. Match the pod to the exact device model and pod series before you order.
Do pod systems have adjustable wattage?
Some pod systems set the power on their own. Adjustable pod systems let you pick the wattage yourself, within the device’s range. Check the specs for each model.
Can every e-liquid be used in a pod system?
Not every e-liquid suits every pod or coil. Pick an e-liquid that fits the pod resistance, coil design, airflow and device power, and follow the maker’s advice.
When should I replace the pod or coil?
Replace the pod or coil when the flavor stays burnt or weak, vapor drops, leaking keeps up, or the pod cracks or breaks. A reusable pod may only need a new coil if the pod itself is still in good shape.
What is the difference between a pod mod and a standard pod kit?
A pod mod usually has more power, settings and coil options than a basic pod kit. Standard pod systems put small size and simple use first, though features vary by model.
