GTX coil compatibility is easy to check once you know which coil family your kit uses. GTX coils go in LUXE XR pods, so they fit the Vaporesso LUXE kits that take those pods. The Vaporesso ARMOUR kits take GTi coils instead, while older NRG tanks take GT coils. Below, we chart which coil fits which kit, then cover GTX coil resistance and GTX coil wattage, so you can pick the right pack.
The short version
- GTX coils fit LUXE XR pods, which go in four Vaporesso LUXE kits: the LUXE XR MAX 2, X3, X PRO and XR.
- The ARMOUR kits take GTi coils instead, and Vaporesso says the two aren’t interchangeable.
- On a 40W kit, use the 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω GTX coils, since the lowest ones need more wattage.
- About 7 in 10 GTX coil packs we sell are DTL coils, from 0.15Ω to 0.4Ω.
- GT coils fit older NRG tanks, while XROS and LUXE X pods have the coil built in.
GTX coil compatibility chart
Vaporesso makes several coil families, and each one fits its own pods or tanks. GTX coils fit LUXE XR pods, GTi coils fit the iTank tanks, and GT coils fit the NRG tanks. So GTX coil compatibility comes down to which pod or tank your kit uses. In fact, Vaporesso says GTX and GTi coils aren’t interchangeable, because they use different designs.
First, here’s every kit and tank in this guide. A check means Vaporesso lists that coil family for it, while a blank means it doesn’t. We’ve also linked each kit we stock:
| Kit or tank | GTX | GTi | GT | GTR |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LUXE XR MAX 2 | ✓ | |||
| LUXE X3 | ✓ | |||
| LUXE X PRO | ✓ | |||
| LUXE XR and first LUXE XR MAX | ✓ | |||
| ARMOUR ULTRA and ARMOUR OCTA | ✓ | |||
| Armour MAX and Armour S | ✓ | |||
| NRG and NRG SE tanks | ✓ | |||
| NRG-S, NRG PE and Cascade tanks | Some | |||
| FORZ Tank 25 | ✓ |
“Some” means Vaporesso lists only certain GT coils for that tank. Also, the first LUXE XR MAX is out of stock here, but it takes the same GTX coils.
XROS kits aren’t on the chart, since XROS pods have the coil built in. So if you own an XROS device, Vaporesso says to use XROS pods, not GTX or GTi coils. Our XROS pod guide covers those pods.
Which GTX coils fit each LUXE kit
All four Vaporesso LUXE kits we stock take GTX coils, but only inside a LUXE XR pod. These pods come empty, in two versions, so GTX coil compatibility also depends on the coil’s resistance. The DTL pod holds the 0.15Ω to 0.4Ω coils, while the MTL pod holds the 0.6Ω to 1.2Ω coils.
The real limit, though, is power. Each GTX coil needs a certain wattage, so a 40W kit can’t run the lowest-resistance coils. Here’s the GTX coil compatibility Vaporesso lists for each LUXE kit:
| LUXE kit | Power | GTX coils |
|---|---|---|
| LUXE XR MAX 2 | 5W to 80W | 0.15Ω to 1.2Ω |
| LUXE X3 | 5W to 45W | 0.3Ω to 1.2Ω |
| LUXE X PRO | Up to 40W | 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω |
| LUXE XR | Up to 40W | 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω |
So the LUXE XR MAX 2 is the only kit Vaporesso lists for the 0.15Ω and 0.2Ω GTX coils, which need the most wattage. The LUXE XR MAX 2, LUXE X3 and LUXE X PRO also take LUXE X pods, which have the coil built in, so you replace the whole pod instead. We stock LUXE X pods from 0.3Ω to 0.8Ω, too.
Vaporesso LUXE XR Replacement Pods (Pack of 2)
These empty pods hold your GTX coil, and they fit all four Vaporesso LUXE kits we stock. So pick the DTL pod for the low-resistance coils, or the MTL pod for the rest. Shop LUXE XR pods.
Best for: anyone who wants to swap coils instead of whole pods.
Good to know: Coils aren’t included, so add a pack of GTX coils to your order.
GTi coils for the Vaporesso ARMOUR kits
The Vaporesso ARMOUR kits use GTi coils, which are Vaporesso’s coil platform for direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping. They go in the iTank T or the iTank 2, and Vaporesso says every GTi coil fits both tanks. However, GTi coils don’t fit GTX pods or XROS devices, so GTX coil compatibility ends at the iTank.
The tank depends on which Vaporesso ARMOUR kit you buy. The ARMOUR ULTRA and ARMOUR OCTA come with the 6ml iTank T, while the Armour MAX and Armour S come with either tank, by version. Here’s how Vaporesso rates the GTi coils:
| GTi coil | Wattage (best) |
|---|---|
| 0.15Ω | 75W to 90W (85W) |
| 0.2Ω | 60W to 75W (65W) |
| 0.4Ω | 50W to 60W (55W) |
| 0.5Ω | 30W to 40W (35W) |
The dual mesh 0.15Ω, 0.2Ω and 0.4Ω carry the same ratings, too. At our store, the 0.2Ω is the most popular GTi coil, at about 1 in 3 packs we sell. Vaporesso also designs the 0.15Ω for high-VG e-liquid, and our guide to PG and VG explains what that means. For more on DTL tanks, see our sub-ohm vaping guide.
Vaporesso GTi Replacement Coils (Pack of 5)
These fit the iTank T and iTank 2 on every ARMOUR kit. We have the 0.15Ω and 0.2Ω mesh coils and the 0.2Ω dual mesh in stock, while the 0.4Ω and 0.5Ω are out of stock for now. Shop GTi coils.
Best for: ARMOUR kit owners who vape DTL at 30W to 90W.
Good to know: They’re DTL coils, so they won’t give you a tight MTL draw.
GT and GTR coils for older tanks
Vaporesso’s NRG tanks use GT coils. In fact, Vaporesso’s store says most GT coils fit the NRG tank, and its NRG SE page says that tank takes all of them. Other tanks take only some, though. For instance, the NRG-S takes the GT Meshed and GT4 Meshed, while the Cascade takes the GT4, GT8, GT4 Meshed and GT cCELL.
GTR coils, meanwhile, are 0.15Ω and 0.4Ω mesh coils for the FORZ Tank 25 and FORZ TX80 kit. We no longer stock these tanks, but we still carry their coils. So here are Vaporesso’s ratings for the GT coils in stock:
| GT coil | Wattage (best) |
|---|---|
| GT Meshed 0.18Ω | 50W to 85W (65W to 80W) |
| GT2 0.4Ω | 40W to 80W (55W to 65W) |
| GT6 0.2Ω | 40W to 100W (70W to 90W) |
| GT8 0.15Ω | 50W to 110W (60W to 80W) |
The other GT coils, and both GTR coils, are out of stock for now. Still, this is the Vaporesso coil pack our customers buy most:
Vaporesso GT and GTR Replacement Coils (Pack of 3)
These are our best-selling Vaporesso coils. In fact, 1,500+ customers have bought them, and more than 1 in 4 came back for more. We have the GT Meshed, GT2, GT6 and GT8 coils in stock. Shop GT coils.
Best for: anyone who still vapes on an NRG tank.
Good to know: We no longer stock NRG, Cascade or FORZ tanks, and the GTR coils are out of stock, too.
Pick by GTX coil resistance and wattage
GTX coil resistance, measured in ohms (Ω), sets how the coil feels. A lower number gives a looser, direct-to-lung (DTL) draw, but it needs more power. A higher number gives a tighter, mouth-to-lung (MTL) draw on less power. So each GTX coil has its own wattage range:
| GTX coil | Draw | Wattage (best) |
|---|---|---|
| 0.15Ω | DTL | 60W to 75W (70W) |
| 0.2Ω | DTL | 45W to 60W (55W) |
| 0.3Ω | DTL | 32W to 45W (40W) |
| 0.4Ω | DTL | 26W to 32W (30W) |
| 0.6Ω | MTL | 20W to 26W (24W) |
| 0.8Ω | MTL | 12W to 16W (16W) |
| 1.2Ω | MTL | 8W to 12W (11W) |
The dual mesh 0.15Ω, 0.2Ω and 0.3Ω share these ratings, too. At our store, about 7 in 10 GTX coil packs we sell are the low-resistance DTL coils, and the 0.3Ω and 0.2Ω alone make up about half. For a tight MTL draw, though, Vaporesso’s store suggests the 0.8Ω or 1.2Ω.
When you fit a new GTX coil, set the wattage at the low end of its range, then work up. On the LUXE XR MAX 2, SMART mode can also suggest a power level. The LUXE XR, by contrast, sets the power for you. For e-liquid tips, see our freebase vs salt nicotine guide.
Vaporesso GTX Replacement Coils (Pack of 5)
These fit every LUXE XR pod, so you can pick any GTX coil resistance your kit can power. Right now, we have the 0.2Ω, 0.4Ω, 0.6Ω and 0.8Ω mesh coils and the 0.3Ω dual mesh in stock. However, our 1.2Ω is a regular, non-mesh coil, which Vaporesso doesn’t list for LUXE XR pods. Shop GTX coils.
Best for: LUXE kit owners who need spares or want a new draw.
Good to know: The 0.15Ω and 0.2Ω coils need 45W or more, so skip them on a 40W kit.
How to prime and replace a coil
A new coil needs time to soak up e-liquid before you fire it. Vaporesso’s manuals say to wait 5 minutes after you fill, while its coil guide suggests 5 to 10 minutes, or longer for thick, high-VG e-liquid. Here’s how to swap a GTX coil in a LUXE XR pod:
- Take out the old coil: remove the pod from your kit, then pull the used coil out.
- Fit the new one: push a new GTX coil into the pod.
- Fill the pod: add e-liquid through the filling hole.
- Let it soak: wait 5 minutes, so the e-liquid soaks into the coil.
- Start low: set the power at the low end of the coil’s range, then work up.
An iTank works much the same way, too. First, unscrew the base and fit the new GTi coil. Then fill the tank, lock the top cap and wait 5 minutes, as the Armour MAX manual says.
Before you fit a tank coil, Vaporesso’s coil guide also says to drop a little e-liquid onto the cotton through its side holes. After you fill, take a couple of puffs without firing. Above all, never fire a dry coil, because the cotton burns at once.
So when should you swap a coil? Do it once the taste turns burnt or the vapor gets weak. Vaporesso’s store says a GTX DTL coil lasts about 5 to 6 refills, while its 0.8Ω and 1.2Ω coils last about 7 to 8. GTi coils, meanwhile, last about 5 to 6.
The GTX and GTi kits we stock
We carry four Vaporesso LUXE kits and four Vaporesso ARMOUR kits. Here are five of them, with specs from each kit’s own page, and then the other three follow.
Vaporesso LUXE kits for GTX coils
This kit takes every GTX coil, from 0.15Ω to 1.2Ω. In the box, you get a DTL pod with a 0.2Ω dual mesh coil, plus an MTL pod with a 0.8Ω mesh coil. It also takes LUXE X pods.
Best for: anyone who wants one kit for both MTL and DTL coils.
Good to know: The pods fill from the bottom, so you take the pod off to refill it.
The box has two top-fill LUXE X dual mesh pods, 0.6Ω and 0.4Ω. For GTX coils, add a LUXE XR pod, since Vaporesso lists the 0.3Ω to 1.2Ω coils for it.
Best for: a big battery and top-fill pods, with GTX coils as an option.
Good to know: There’s no LUXE XR pod in the box, so buy one with your GTX coils.
This small kit comes with LUXE X 0.4Ω and 0.6Ω mesh pods, and it fires by draw or button. It also takes LUXE XR pods with the 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω GTX coils.
Best for: a compact kit with a screen and auto-draw.
Good to know: Since it tops out at 40W, it doesn’t have the wattage for the 0.15Ω or 0.2Ω GTX coils.
The fourth Vaporesso LUXE kit is the LUXE XR, a 40W kit with a 1500mAh battery. It also comes with GTX 0.4Ω and 0.8Ω coils in two LUXE XR pods.
Vaporesso ARMOUR kits for GTi coils
It has a built-in battery, so there are no cells to buy. Its iTank T takes every GTi coil, and it comes with 0.2Ω and 0.4Ω dual mesh coils.
Best for: DTL vapers who want a tough kit without spare batteries.
Good to know: Also, GTX coils don’t fit its tank, and it isn’t made for MTL.
The Armour S is a smaller, 100W kit for one 21700 battery. The ARMOUR OCTA, by contrast, runs on two 18650s with the iTank T, and our full OCTA review covers it. Whichever kit you use, follow the FDA’s tips to help avoid vape battery fires.
GTX coil compatibility FAQ
Do GTX coils fit GTi devices?
No. GTX coil compatibility stops at LUXE XR pods, and Vaporesso says GTX and GTi coils aren’t interchangeable. GTi coils go in the iTank T and iTank 2 on the Vaporesso ARMOUR kits instead.
Which pod do I need for GTX coils?
You need a LUXE XR pod, which fits every Vaporesso LUXE kit we stock. It comes empty, in a DTL version for the low-resistance coils and an MTL version for the 0.6Ω to 1.2Ω coils.
Can a 40W kit run a 0.2Ω coil?
Vaporesso doesn’t list it for one, because that GTX coil’s wattage range is 45W to 60W. So for the LUXE X PRO and LUXE XR, it lists the 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω coils instead.
Do GTX coils fit XROS kits?
No, because XROS pods have the coil built in. Vaporesso says XROS devices take XROS pods instead of GTX or GTi coils.
Which coils fit the LUXE X3?
The LUXE X3 comes with LUXE X dual mesh pods, which have the coil built in. However, it also takes LUXE XR pods with the 0.3Ω to 1.2Ω GTX coils.
Are dual mesh GTX coils different?
They fit the same pods as a mesh GTX coil of the same resistance, and they share its ratings. Vaporesso makes them in 0.15Ω, 0.2Ω and 0.3Ω, and the LUXE XR MAX 2 comes with a 0.2Ω dual mesh coil.
How long do these coils last?
Vaporesso’s store says about 5 to 6 refills for a GTX DTL coil or a GTi coil, and about 7 to 8 for the 0.8Ω or 1.2Ω GTX coil. Change yours sooner, though, if the taste turns burnt.
Stock up on GTX coils
Grab a pack in the GTX coil resistance you like, plus a spare LUXE XR pod. If you vape one of the Vaporesso ARMOUR kits, stock up on GTi coils too.
GTX coil compatibility, coil ratings and coil steps come from Vaporesso’s own pages and manuals, while kit specs come from each kit’s page on our site.
