Our ARMOUR OCTA review in short: Vaporesso built a rugged box mod kit that fires up to 220W on two 18650 batteries. It comes with the 6mL iTank T and two GTi coils, so it’s ready for big clouds right out of the box. Vaporesso also rates the mod for water, dust and high-pressure water jets.

Vaporesso ARMOUR OCTA
The ARMOUR OCTA by Vaporesso is a dual-battery mod with a 0.96-inch screen, and it fires up to 220W. It charges over USB-C, and it comes with the iTank T, which takes every GTi coil. Shop the ARMOUR OCTA.
Best for: cloud chasers who want a tough, high-power kit and already own 18650 batteries.
Good to know: Batteries aren’t included, so budget for two matched 18650s before you order.
Which coil should you use in the ARMOUR OCTA?
First, the iTank T runs Vaporesso’s GTi coils. So here are the ones we carry, with Vaporesso’s watt range for each:
| Coil | Watts |
|---|---|
| 0.2 ohm Dual Mesh (in the box) | 60W to 75W |
| 0.4 ohm Dual Mesh (in the box) | 50W to 60W |
| 0.15 ohm Mesh | 75W to 90W |
| 0.2 ohm Mesh | 60W to 75W |
| 0.4 ohm Mesh | 50W to 60W |
| 0.5 ohm Mesh | 30W to 40W |
All of them are sub-ohm coils for a loose, direct-to-lung draw. In general, start at the low end of each range, and then turn it up slowly.
Next, notice that no GTi coil needs more than 90W. So with the stock tank, most of the 220W is spare power. That extra power only matters if you move on to other tanks or rebuildable atomizers.
Also, we sell GTi coils in 5-packs, from $14.99. Since sub-ohm coils use more juice, our PG and VG guide can help you pick a high-VG e-liquid that suits them.
The iTank T
The kit’s iTank T holds 6mL, and its top slides open, so you can fill it without taking it off the mod. Its airflow is on top too, and it uses a wide 810 drip tip. In addition, the tank is made of stainless steel and glass, and it measures 27.6mm across.
The box also comes with a spare glass tube and a spare tank protector. Then, if the glass ever cracks, you can swap it and keep vaping.
Batteries, charging and safety
The Vaporesso ARMOUR OCTA runs on two 18650 batteries, and they’re sold separately. So if you don’t own a matched pair yet, add them to your budget. The mod charges over USB-C, while an external charger lets you top up a second pair while you vape.
Since the cells come out of the mod, the FDA’s tips to help avoid vape battery fires matter even more here. For example, only use batteries recommended for your device. Also, don’t mix brands, charge levels, or old and new batteries. Keep spare cells in a battery case, away from metal objects, and replace them if they get damaged or wet. Finally, don’t charge with a phone or tablet charger, and don’t charge overnight.
Water and dust ratings
Vaporesso rates the mod IPX8 for water and IP6X for dust. It also has an IPX9K rating, which covers high-pressure water jets. These are Vaporesso’s ratings, and we haven’t tested them ourselves. Still, if water ever gets inside, the FDA says to replace the batteries.
ARMOUR OCTA review: who should buy it?
Our ARMOUR OCTA review verdict is simple. Get it if you want a tough, high-power box mod kit, and you don’t mind buying batteries. It runs every GTi coil with power to spare, and its 510 thread lets it grow with you. On the other hand, if you’d rather skip batteries, pick a kit with one built in. For example, our DRAG 6 review covers a 220W kit with a 4400mAh battery inside.
Also, if you mostly vape nic salts, a pod kit is a better fit, since sub-ohm vaping isn’t meant for strong salt nicotine. Still deciding? Our sub-ohm vaping guide explains how low-ohm coils work. You can also compare more kits in our roundup or browse the rest of our mod kits.
