Vaporesso Armour MAX 220W Starter Kit Review

The Vaporesso Armour MAX 220W Starter Kit pairs a TPU-armored box mod for two 21700 or 18650 batteries with the 8ml iTank 2 or the 6ml iTank T, depending on the option. It is built for direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping on GTi mesh coils. See more from Vaporesso or compare other box mod kits.

Armour MAX Highlights

Up to 220W on Two Batteries

The Vaporesso Armour MAX runs on two 21700 batteries, or two 18650s in the sleeves that come inside the mod. The batteries are sold separately.

Two Ways to Lock

Slide the fire button up to lock it. To lock every button, hold the up and down buttons together.

TPU Armor

Vaporesso covers the mod in TPU to guard against drops and scratches. The tank comes with a protector fitted.

iTank 2 or iTank T

Options marked (iTank T) come with the 6ml iTank T, which has top airflow and a top that slides open. The others come with the 8ml iTank 2, whose top cap opens at the press of a button. Both take GTi coils.

On the Armour MAX, start at the low end of a coil’s range. We carry Vaporesso GTi coils in packs of 5.

Batteries

The Armour MAX needs a matched pair of high-drain 21700s, or two 18650s in the sleeves that come inside the mod. Batteries aren’t included, so use a pair from a known brand, and charge, use and replace them together. We carry IMREN 21700 batteries in packs of 2. Don’t charge batteries overnight, and carry spares in a case. The FDA has more battery safety tips.

How to Set Up the Armour MAX

  1. Add batteries: press the button to open the battery door and put in two charged 21700s, or two 18650s in the sleeves.
  2. Fill and prime: open the tank (press the button on the iTank 2, or slide the iTank T’s top open), fill it and let the coil soak for a few minutes.
  3. Turn it on: press the fire button five times. Three quick presses open the menu.
  4. Set the power: start low in your coil’s range, such as 60W for the 0.2Ω coil. Then go up slowly.
  5. Lock it: slide the fire button up before the Armour MAX goes in a pocket or bag.

Who the Armour MAX Is For

The Vaporesso Armour MAX suits DTL vapers who want up to 220W from two batteries in a tough, TPU-armored kit. It isn’t made for mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping, so try our pod kits for a tighter draw. Which tank comes with it?

It depends on the option. Options marked (iTank T) come with the 6ml iTank T, which fills by sliding the top open and has top airflow. The others come with the 8ml iTank 2, whose top cap opens at the press of a button.

Which coils fit the Armour MAX?

Every Vaporesso GTi coil fits both tanks, from 0.15Ω to 0.5Ω. GTX coils don’t fit. We sell GTi coils in packs of 5.

How do I lock it?

Slide the fire button up to lock it. To lock every button, hold the up and down buttons together.

How do I turn it on?

Press the fire button five times. Three quick presses open the menu.

Can I charge the batteries in the mod?

Yes, over USB-C at 5V/2A, with the cable from the box. You can also use an external charger such as the Nitecore i2.

How is it different from the Armour S?

The Armour S takes one battery and goes up to 100W, in a smaller kit. The Armour MAX takes two and goes up to 220W. Both use GTi coils.
