VOOPOO PnP coil compatibility comes down to one question: does your kit take original PnP coils or the newer PnP X coils? VOOPOO says the two don’t swap, so this guide shows which VOOPOO pods and tanks take each one. It also covers PnP coil resistance and wattage, as well as how to prime a new coil.
The short version
- VOOPOO’s PnP coils come in two families, original PnP and PnP X. However, VOOPOO says neither one fits the other’s pods or tanks.
- PnP X coils fit the DRAG S3, DRAG H40 Pro, DRAG 5, DRAG 6 and VINCI Spark 220, as well as PnP X pods and UFORCE-X tanks.
- Original PnP coils, on the other hand, fit the PnP Pod II, the UFORCE-L tank and older kits, such as the DRAG X.
- Then pick your PnP coil resistance by draw. Nearly 9 in 10 PnP X coil packs we sell are the 0.15Ω, 0.2Ω or 0.3Ω.
- Prime every new PnP coil, then let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes before you vape.
- ARGUS G3 and G4 pods, as well as VINCI V2 pods, have built-in coils, so they take no PnP coils.
VOOPOO PnP coil compatibility chart
Start with your kit, since each one takes a single coil family. Here’s VOOPOO PnP coil compatibility for the VOOPOO kits, pods and tanks we sell, plus some older ones. A check means VOOPOO lists that family, and we’ve also linked what we stock:
| Kit, pod or tank | PnP | PnP X |
|---|---|---|
| DRAG S3, DRAG X2 and DRAG S2 (both out of stock), with PnP X pods | No | ✓ |
| DRAG H40 Pro | No | 0.3Ω and up |
| DRAG 6, DRAG 5, VINCI Spark 220, UFORCE-X Tank and Tank II | No | ✓ |
| PnP X Pod Tank, for 510 mods | No | ✓ |
| VINCI E120 (out of stock) and its VINCI PnP X pods | No | ✓ |
| PnP Pod II: DRAG H80S and DRAG E60 (out of stock) and the first DRAG H40 | ✓ | No |
| UFORCE-L tank, as in the DRAG 4 kit (out of stock) | ✓ | No |
| Older DRAG X and DRAG S kits, and their old PnP-X Pod | ✓ | No |
| Older VINCI kits, such as the VINCI X and VINCI 2 | ✓ | No |
| ARGUS G4, ARGUS G3, G2 and P1 pod kits | No | No |
First, the DRAG H40 Pro’s range starts at 0.3Ω, so the 0.15Ω and 0.2Ω PnP X coils are too low for it. Also, VOOPOO’s MTL PnP X pod and MTL Pod Tank take only the 0.3Ω and 0.6Ω coils, while the DTL versions take them all. Similarly, VOOPOO lists the 0.15Ω to 0.3Ω for the DTL VINCI pod and the 0.6Ω to 1.0Ω for the MTL one.
On a 510 box mod, however, the tank decides the coil, not the mod. For instance, VOOPOO says its UFORCE-X Tank II and PnP X Pod Tank fit any 510 mod. So an older DRAG 4 can run PnP X coils once you fit a UFORCE-X tank.
PnP vs PnP X coils
VOOPOO calls PnP X its 4th-generation coil platform. However, it says neither family fits the other’s devices. That is why VOOPOO PnP coil compatibility starts with the family, not the resistance.
The fit is different, too. PnP X coils use a directional push-fit design, so they only go in one way. Also, watch for these traps:
| Coil or pod | Works with | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| PnP X coils | PnP X pods, tanks and kits | VOOPOO says they’re for PnP X devices only. |
| PnP coils (VM, TW, TM and R) | PnP Pod II, UFORCE-L and older PnP kits | VOOPOO also says they don’t fit PnP X devices. |
| Old PnP-X Pod (DRAG X and DRAG S PnP-X kits) | PnP coils | Despite the name, VOOPOO says it takes PnP coils and isn’t for the DRAG S2 or X2. |
| Pods for ARGUS G and P kits, VINCI V2, VMATE and VRIZZ | No separate coils | The coil is built into each pod, so you replace the whole pod when it wears out. |
| TPP coils | TPP pods and tanks | It’s a third VOOPOO family, for tanks such as the MAAT tank. |
In short, VOOPOO coil compatibility depends on the name of your pod or tank, not just your kit. For a closer look at two PnP X kits, also read our DRAG S3 review and DRAG 6 review.
Pick your draw by resistance
The PnP coil resistance, measured in ohms (Ω), sets how a coil feels. A lower number gives a looser, cloudier draw, but it needs more power. A higher number gives a tighter draw, so it uses less battery.
PnP X coil ratings
Here’s VOOPOO’s draw and wattage rating for each PnP X coil:
| PnP X coil | Draw | Watts |
|---|---|---|
| 0.15Ω | DTL | 60W to 80W |
| 0.2Ω | DTL | 40W to 60W |
| 0.3Ω | DTL or RDL | 32W to 40W |
| 0.45Ω | RDL | 25W to 32W |
| 0.6Ω | MTL or RDL | 18W to 23W |
| 0.8Ω | MTL | 12W to 16W |
| 1.0Ω | MTL | 10W to 13W |
MTL (mouth-to-lung) is the tightest draw, while DTL (direct-to-lung) is the most open, with RDL in between. At our store, though, the cloud coils lead by far: nearly 9 in 10 PnP X coil packs we sell are the 0.15Ω, 0.2Ω or 0.3Ω. The 0.3Ω alone is also about 1 in 3.
Original PnP coil ratings
Original PnP coils come in more versions. The VM and TW coils are mesh coils for DTL and RDL, while the TM2 and R2 are for MTL. Here are the ones we sell, with each PnP coil’s wattage range:
| PnP coil | Draw | Watts |
|---|---|---|
| VM6 0.15Ω | DTL | 60W to 80W |
| VM5 0.2Ω | DTL | 40W to 60W |
| TW20 0.2Ω | DTL | 40W to 55W |
| VM1 0.3Ω | DTL or RDL | 32W to 40W |
| TW30 0.3Ω | DTL or RDL | 28W to 36W |
| VM3 0.45Ω | RDL | 25W to 35W |
| VM4 0.6Ω | RDL | 20W to 28W |
| TM2 0.8Ω | MTL | 12W to 18W |
| R2 1.0Ω (out of stock) | MTL | 10W to 15W |
However, VOOPOO’s pages also list a lower range for some of these coils, such as 55W to 70W for the VM6. So go by the range printed on your coil’s box. Our customers lean toward clouds here, too: about half of the PnP coil packs we’ve sold are 0.15Ω or 0.2Ω coils, and the VM6 alone is about 1 in 4.
Your PnP coil resistance should also suit your e-liquid. For example, VOOPOO pairs the 0.6Ω, 0.8Ω and 1.0Ω PnP X coils with 50% VG nic salts, and the lower ones with higher-VG juice at 10mg or less. It also warns that TW coils have smaller wicking holes, so they don’t suit high-VG juice. Our freebase vs salt nicotine guide explains the difference, while our guide to PG and VG covers how thick a juice is. Apart from the limits in the chart, though, resistance doesn’t change VOOPOO PnP coil compatibility, so you can switch resistances in the same pod.
Set the power: PnP coil wattage
Each coil has a watt range, so VOOPOO’s advice is to start at the low end. For its VM coils, it warns that going over the range burns the cotton, while staying under it can flood the coil. So set your PnP coil wattage inside the range, then turn it up slowly.
Your kit’s top power matters, too. For example, the DRAG H40 Pro reaches 40W, which covers the PnP coil wattage of the 0.3Ω to 1.0Ω PnP X coils. The DRAG S3 reaches 60W, so it runs every PnP X coil, but only the bottom of the 0.15Ω coil’s range. So our DRAG S3 review suggests the 0.2Ω for clouds.
The box mods, on the other hand, have power to spare. The DRAG 5 goes up to 177W, while the DRAG 6 and VINCI Spark 220 go up to 220W, so all three run every PnP X coil at its full rating. On another 510 mod, however, check that the mod reaches your PnP coil wattage first.
How to change and prime a PnP coil
VOOPOO’s coil guide gives the same steps for all its pods and tanks, so here’s how to swap and prime a PnP coil or a PnP X coil:
- Remove the pod or tank: take it off your device first.
- Pull out the old coil: it slides straight out, because push-fit coils need no force, VOOPOO says.
- Push in the new coil: line it up and press until it seats. Also, a PnP X coil fits one way only, and its base sits flush with the bottom of the pod.
- Wet the cotton: then, to prime a PnP coil, add a few drops of e-liquid into its wick holes.
- Fill and wait: fill the pod or tank to about two-thirds, then close the plug. Next, let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes to finish priming the PnP coil.
- Start low: set the power at the low end of the coil’s range, then work up.
VOOPOO says to replace a coil once you notice a burnt taste, muted flavor, less vapor, leaking or dark e-liquid. It also rates each PnP X coil for up to 100ml of e-liquid in normal use, or about 20 refills of a 5ml pod. So prime every new PnP coil the same way before you vape.
The VOOPOO coils and kits we stock
Here’s what we carry right now. Since VOOPOO PnP coil compatibility runs by family, you can often keep your coils when you change kits.
Replacement coils
VOOPOO PnP Replacement Coils (Pack of 5)
These are our best-selling VOOPOO product, and 700+ customers have bought them. Also, about 1 in 5 came back for more. Eight versions are in stock, from the VM6 0.15Ω for clouds to the TM2 0.8Ω for MTL, so you can pick the PnP coil resistance you like. Shop PnP coils.
Best for: owners of the PnP Pod II, the UFORCE-L tank or an older PnP kit, such as the DRAG H80S, DRAG E60 or DRAG X.
Good to know: They don’t fit PnP X pods or tanks. Also, the R2 1.0Ω is out of stock right now.
VOOPOO PnP X Replacement Coils
All seven PnP X coil resistances are in stock, in packs of 5. Also, they’re the coils for every PnP X pod, tank and kit above. Shop PnP X coils.
Best for: owners of a DRAG S3, DRAG H40 Pro, DRAG 5, DRAG 6 or VINCI Spark 220.
Good to know: The DRAG H40 Pro only takes the 0.3Ω and up, so skip the 0.15Ω and 0.2Ω for it.
Need a spare VOOPOO pod or tank? We stock PnP X pods and the PnP X Pod Tank in DTL, since the MTL ones are out of stock. We also stock PnP Pod II pods in 5ml, VINCI PnP X pods and both UFORCE-X tanks.
PnP X pod mods
This is our best-selling PnP X kit. It’s small, and its Smart mode also suggests a power level for the coil you fit.
Best for: MTL and RDL vapers who want a compact pod mod.
Good to know: Its range starts at 0.3Ω, so it can’t fire the 0.15Ω or 0.2Ω coils.
PnP X box mod kits
It has a built-in 4400mAh battery and a power wheel on top. Its 5ml tank takes every PnP X coil, too.
Best for: cloud chasers who want lots of power and no batteries to buy.
Good to know: The wheel is slow, though, for big wattage changes.
It runs on two 18650 batteries you can swap. Its 5.5ml tank also takes every PnP X coil.
Best for: vapers who like to carry spare batteries.
Good to know: Batteries aren’t included, so buy a matched pair.
A dial sets the power and fires it, while a starlight LED panel lights up below its 1.47-inch screen. It also comes with the 5.5ml UFORCE-X Tank.
Best for: vapers who want 220W with batteries they can swap.
Good to know: Batteries aren’t included, so use cells rated 25A or more, as its battery door asks.
Whichever kit you use, follow the FDA’s tips to help avoid vape battery fires when you charge it.
VOOPOO PnP coil compatibility FAQ
Do PnP coils fit PnP X pods?
No. VOOPOO says original PnP coils don’t fit PnP X devices, and PnP X coils also don’t fit older PnP devices. So check which family your pod or tank takes in the chart above.
Which coils fit the DRAG H40 Pro?
It takes PnP X coils from 0.3Ω to 1.0Ω, since its range starts at 0.3Ω. The first DRAG H40, on the other hand, takes original PnP coils in the PnP Pod II.
Does the old PnP-X Pod take PnP X coils?
No. Despite its name, VOOPOO says the old PnP-X Pod for the DRAG X and DRAG S PnP-X kits takes original PnP coils. So it isn’t for the DRAG S2 or X2.
Do ARGUS pods take PnP coils?
Most don’t. Pods for the ARGUS G3, G4, G2 and P1 have the coil built in, so you replace the whole pod. However, VOOPOO lists its older ARGUS GT, Pro and Air as PnP coil devices.
Which PnP X coil is best for nic salt?
VOOPOO pairs its 0.6Ω, 0.8Ω and 1.0Ω PnP X coils with 50% VG nic salts. The lower-resistance coils, on the other hand, are for higher-VG e-liquid at 10mg or less.
How long does a PnP X coil last?
VOOPOO rates each PnP X coil for up to 100ml of e-liquid, or about 20 refills of a 5ml pod. Still, change it sooner if it tastes burnt or the vapor drops, and prime the new PnP X coil before you vape.
Stock up on VOOPOO coils
Grab a 5-pack in the PnP coil resistance you like, as well as a spare VOOPOO pod, tank or PnP X kit. Then prime each PnP coil before its first puff.
