GeekVape Aegis Mini 5

$69.99 3200mAh 5W to 100W IP67

The Aegis Mini 5 by GeekVape is a compact box mod kit with a zinc alloy body. As an IP67 vape, it stands up to dust and water. In Smart mode, its AS 4.0 chip sets the power for your coil, while Power mode lets you pick. Right now, we have it in all six colors. Shop the Aegis Mini 5.

Best for: vapers who want a tough, compact box mod for big clouds, at work or outdoors.

Good to know: It’s a sub-ohm kit, so it’s made for low-nicotine e-liquid, not strong nic salts. Its only modes are Smart and Power, so there’s no temperature control.

Which B coil should you use?

The Z Nano 3 tank runs GeekVape’s B series coils. So here are the watt ratings from our product pages, from the most vapor to the tightest draw:

CoilWatts
0.2 ohm (in the box)50W to 58W
0.3 ohm30W to 38W
0.4 ohm (in the box)25W to 35W
0.6 ohm15W to 25W
1.2 ohm10W to 14W

In general, start at the low end of each range, and then turn it up slowly. Low-ohm coils make the most vapor, while the 1.2 ohm coil gives a tighter draw.

Next, here’s where the GeekVape Aegis Mini 5 stands out. Our Aegis Hero 5 review covers a 50W pod kit, which only reaches the bottom of the 0.2 ohm range. In contrast, the Mini 5 can run that coil at its full 58W, with plenty of power left over.

Also, the coils screw into the tank, and a coil tool comes in the box. Our coil 5-packs cost $14.99, and right now we have them in 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.6 and 1.2 ohm.

The Z Nano 3 tank

The Z Nano 3 tank holds 5mL. To fill it, you push the marked part of the top cap, and the fill port opens. Its airflow is on top, and you can adjust it for a tighter or looser draw.

It also takes 510 drip tips, and the box comes with a spare wide-bore tip and a spare glass tube. Need a second tank? We sell the tank on its own for $24.99, in black, blue or silver.

What IP67 means, plus battery and charging

GeekVape rates the Mini 5 IP67, and it’s shock-resistant too. In short, an IP67 vape is sealed against dust, and it can handle rain or a quick drop in water. Still, it isn’t made for use underwater. And if it gets wet, dry the charging port before you plug it in.

Meanwhile, the 3200mAh battery is built in, and it charges over USB-C at 5V/2A or 5V/3A. It also has GeekVape’s A-Lock safety system to keep it from firing by accident. Whenever you charge it, follow the FDA’s tips to help avoid vape battery fires. For example, charge it on a clean, flat surface, away from anything that can catch fire. Also, don’t use a phone or tablet charger, and don’t charge it overnight.

Aegis Mini 5 review: who should buy it?

Our Aegis Mini 5 review verdict is simple. Get it if you want a compact box mod that can take a beating and still run cloud coils at full power. On the other hand, if you want temperature control or more than 100W, a bigger mod is a better fit.

Still deciding? For example, our DRAG 6 review covers a 220W kit with temperature control. Our sub-ohm vaping guide also explains how low-ohm coils work. You can also compare the rest of our mod kits.
