SMOK Novo pod compatibility comes down to one question: which pod family does your kit take? That’s because the pods we stock come in two families. Novo and Novo 2 pods fit kits like the Novo 2, while Novo 5 pods fit the Novo 5 and Novo 6. So this guide shows which pods fit the SMOK Novo kits we stock. It also covers Novo pod resistance, Novo pod wattage and how to prime a Novo pod before your first puff.
The short version
- Novo and Novo 2 pods fit the Novo 2, GT Box, Novo Master and Master Box. Novo 5 pods, on the other hand, fit the Novo 5, Novo 6 and Novo 6 Ultra.
- SMOK doesn’t list either family for the other’s kits, so match the pod to your kit first.
- Novo 2 pods are our best-selling Novo pods, and nearly half the packs we sell are the 1.0Ω mesh.
- In general, a lower Novo pod resistance gives a looser draw and needs more power. For example, SMOK’s best Novo pod wattage is 18W for the 0.6Ω pods and 10W for the 1.0Ω pods.
- To prime a Novo pod, fill it and then wait 2 to 3 minutes before your first puff, as SMOK advises.
SMOK Novo pod compatibility chart
Each pod family fits its own set of kits. Novo and Novo 2 pods fit kits such as the Novo 2, GT Box and Novo Master. Novo 5 pods, however, fit the Novo 5, Novo 6 and Novo 6 Ultra. So SMOK Novo pod compatibility starts with the family your kit takes.
Here are the SMOK Novo kits we stock, as well as the original Novo. Since Novo and Novo 2 pods fit the same kits, they share a column. A check means the pod fits that kit, going by SMOK’s pages and each kit’s page on our site. No means it isn’t listed for that kit, so don’t count on a fit:
| Kit | Novo or Novo 2 pods | Novo 5 pods |
|---|---|---|
| Original Novo | ✓ | No |
| Novo 2 | ✓ | No |
| Novo Master and Master Box | ✓ | No |
| Novo GT Box | ✓ | No |
| Novo 5 | No | ✓ |
| Novo 6 and Novo 6 Ultra | No | ✓ |
We’ve also linked every kit we stock. The original Novo has sold out, but SMOK says Novo and Novo 2 pods fit it, so you can still get pods for it here. In short, find your kit’s row first, and then pick a resistance in that family.
Other Novo pods: what they fit
SMOK makes a few other Novo pods, too. We’re out of each one right now, but here’s their SMOK Novo pod compatibility at a glance:
| Pod | Made for | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Novo M pods | Novo GT Box | The GT Box comes with them, but SMOK says it takes Novo and Novo 2 pods, too. |
| Novo 2X pods | Novo 2X | SMOK says they also fit the Novo, Novo 2, Novo 2S and GT Box. |
| Novo 3 pods | Novo 3 | SMOK only lists Novo 3 pods for it, so check its manual before you try others. |
| Novo X pods | Novo X | It takes only Novo X pods, since Novo and Novo 2 pods don’t fit it. |

Pick your pod by resistance
Novo pod resistance, in ohms (Ω), sets how the pod draws. For example, SMOK puts its 0.6Ω pods at the restricted direct-lung (RDL) end of the range, for a looser draw. Its 1.0Ω pods, on the other hand, sit at the mouth-to-lung (MTL) end. Here’s SMOK’s best Novo pod wattage for each resistance we stock:
| Resistance | Our pods | SMOK’s best wattage |
|---|---|---|
| 0.4Ω or 0.8Ω dual-ohm | Novo 5 (3ml) | Not given |
| 0.6Ω | Novo 5 (3ml) and Novo Clear (3ml) | 18W |
| 0.7Ω | Novo 5 MTL (2ml) | Not given |
| 0.8Ω or 0.9Ω | Novo mesh (2ml), Novo Clear (3ml) and Novo 2 meshed (1.8ml) | 14W |
| 1.0Ω | Novo 2 mesh (2ml) and Novo Clear (3ml) | 10W |
| 1.4Ω or 1.5Ω | Novo 2 DC MTL and quartz (2ml), as well as Novo 1.5Ω (2ml) | Not given |
Resistance doesn’t change SMOK Novo pod compatibility, so you can switch resistances within your family. SMOK gives no Novo pod wattage for the 0.7Ω, though it calls it an MTL pod. Unlike the 0.7Ω, the dual-ohm pod switches between MTL and RDL with a click. At 0.8Ω it gives an MTL draw, while at 0.4Ω it gives an RDL one.
At our store, meanwhile, the 1.0Ω mesh is the clear favorite among Novo 2 pods. It makes up nearly half the Novo 2 pod packs we’ve sold, while the DC 1.4Ω MTL comes next at nearly 4 in 10. Among Novo pods, however, the original 1.5Ω, 0.8Ω mesh and 1.2Ω each make up about 1 in 4 packs.
Set the power: Novo pod wattage
Your kit decides how you set the Novo pod wattage. Some SMOK Novo kits set it for you, while others let you pick a number or a mode:
- Novo 2: there’s no power setting, so it runs each pod by itself.
- GT Box: you set 5W to 30W in 1W steps. A chip also reads the resistance of the pod you put in.
- Master and Master Box: you pick Standard or Boost mode, up to 30W. On the Master, double-click the power button to switch.
- Novo 5: you set 5W to 30W, and a ring sets the airflow, too.
- Novo 6 and Novo 6 Ultra: you set 5W to 40W. On the Novo 6, you click the button twice first. The Ultra also adds Power Mode, Smart Mode and three output curves.
So on a kit with a wattage setting, start at SMOK’s best Novo pod wattage for your pod, such as 18W for a 0.6Ω pod or 10W for a 1.0Ω pod. On the Novo 2, in contrast, you change the draw by picking a different pod resistance.

How to fill and prime a Novo pod
SMOK’s steps are much the same for every Novo pod, whichever kit it fits. Here’s how to fill and prime a Novo pod:
- Fill a side-fill pod. For Novo 2 pods and 3ml Clear pods, first take the pod out and pull back the rubber plug. Then fill through the slot, and press the plug back in firmly.
- Fill a top-fill pod. For Novo 5 pods, take off the top cap and fill through the port. On the 3ml pods, press the nozzle firmly into the spring-loaded port, and it locks again when you lift it out. Then put the cap back on.
- Wait 2 to 3 minutes. SMOK says not to vape right after filling. Instead, let the pod stand so the cotton soaks through, since that’s how you prime a Novo pod.
- Push it back in. Next, press the pod firmly into your kit. On the GT Box, magnets pull it into place.
- Set the power. If your kit has a setting, start at SMOK’s best Novo pod wattage for that pod.
Each Novo pod has its coil built in, so when it’s time for a new one, you replace the whole pod. Then prime the new Novo pod the same way before you vape.
The Novo pods we stock
We stock three Novo pod packs, best sellers first. Each pack holds three pods, so you also get spares. Whichever pack you buy, prime a Novo pod the same way before you vape it.
SMOK Novo 2 Replacement Pods (Pack of 3)
These are our best-selling Novo pods: 1,300+ customers have bought them, and about 1 in 5 came back for more. SMOK says they fit the original Novo, the Novo 2 and the GT Box, and they fit the Novo Master and Master Box, too. We stock the 1.0Ω mesh, DC 1.4Ω MTL and 1.4Ω quartz pods, as well as a 0.9Ω meshed pod. Shop Novo 2 pods.
Best for: Novo 2 owners who want the same pods their kit came with.
Good to know: The 0.8Ω meshed and DC 0.8Ω MTL versions are out of stock right now.
SMOK Novo Replacement Pods (Pack of 3)
These fit the same kits as Novo 2 pods, and they cover the widest range. We stock the original 2ml pods in 0.8Ω mesh and 1.5Ω, plus 3ml Clear pods in meshed 0.6Ω, 0.8Ω and 1.0Ω. So you can pick the Novo pod resistance you like. Shop Novo pods.
Best for: anyone who wants a 3ml pod or a looser 0.6Ω draw in a Novo 2, GT Box or Novo Master.
Good to know: The 1.2Ω, ceramic 1.4Ω and top-fill versions are out of stock right now.
SMOK Novo 5 Replacement Pods (Pack of 3)
SMOK says these fit the Novo 5, Novo 6 and Novo 6 Ultra. We stock all three versions: the 2ml meshed 0.7Ω MTL pod, the 3ml meshed 0.6Ω pod and the 3ml dual-ohm pod. The dual-ohm pod switches its Novo pod resistance between 0.4Ω and 0.8Ω with a click. All three also fill from the top. Shop Novo 5 pods.
Best for: Novo 5, Novo 6 and Novo 6 Ultra owners who want spares or a new draw.
Good to know: SMOK gives a best Novo pod wattage only for the 0.6Ω, at 18W.
The SMOK Novo kits we stock
We carry seven SMOK Novo kits right now. Thanks to SMOK Novo pod compatibility, the kits in each family take the same pods. So you can choose by battery, screen and power instead. Specs come from each kit’s page on our site.
The Novo 5 family
The newest kit here has a touch screen and three output curves, as well as a puff counter. It also comes with two 3ml dual-ohm pods.
Best for: vapers who want a touch screen and a pod that switches between MTL and RDL.
Good to know: The screen locks itself in standby, so press the power button three times or swipe up to unlock it.
It has the same big battery and 40W as the Ultra, but with a smaller color screen. It also comes with two 3ml meshed 0.6Ω pods.
Best for: anyone who wants a big battery and a simple screen.
Good to know: It only fires when you draw, since the button is for settings.
The Novo and Novo 2 family
This is our best-selling Novo kit. It has no buttons and fires when you draw. It also comes with a 1.0Ω mesh pod and a DC 1.4Ω MTL pod.
Best for: a simple, pocket-size kit with nothing to set.
Good to know: It charges over Micro-USB, not USB-C.
SMOK calls it the first full-screen pod device. You set the power in 1W steps, and it comes with 0.8Ω and 0.6Ω Novo M pods.
Best for: anyone who wants a big battery and a screen in a kit that takes Novo 2 pods.
Good to know: We’re out of Novo M pods, but SMOK says Novo and Novo 2 pods fit it, too.
Similarly, the Novo Master Box has the Master’s 1000mAh battery, modes and pods in a shorter, box-shaped body. It also comes with a lanyard. Want to compare other brands, too? Then see our list of the best vape starter kits.
Whichever kit you use, follow the FDA’s tips to help avoid vape battery fires when you charge it.
SMOK Novo pod compatibility FAQ
Do all SMOK Novo pods fit every Novo kit?
No. SMOK lists Novo and Novo 2 pods for kits such as the Novo 2, GT Box and Novo Master. However, it lists Novo 5 pods only for the Novo 5, Novo 6 and Novo 6 Ultra. So check your kit’s row in the SMOK Novo pod compatibility chart above.
Do Novo 2 pods fit the original Novo?
Yes. SMOK says Novo and Novo 2 pods fit both the Novo and the Novo 2. Its European site also adds the Novo 2S.
Do Novo 5 pods fit the Novo 6 and Novo 6 Ultra?
Yes. SMOK says its Novo 5 pod series fits the Novo 5, Novo 6 and Novo 6 Ultra. That includes the 3ml dual-ohm pod that comes with the Novo 6 Ultra, too.
What goes in the Novo GT Box?
It comes with SMOK’s Novo M pods. SMOK says it also takes Novo, Novo 2 and Novo 2X pods. We’re out of Novo M pods right now, so our Novo and Novo 2 pods are the ones to get.
What about the Novo Master and Master Box?
Both take Novo, Novo 2 and Novo 2X pods. They also come with two 2ml top-fill Novo pods, a meshed 0.8Ω and a meshed 0.6Ω.
Do Novo pods fit the Novo 3, Novo 4 or Novo X?
Not the Novo 4 or Novo X, since each one takes its own pods. The Novo 3 comes with 1.7ml Novo 3 pods, and SMOK only lists those for it, so check its manual first. For now, though, we’re out of Novo 3 and Novo X pods.
How long should I wait after filling?
Wait 2 to 3 minutes after you fill a new pod. SMOK says not to vape right away, so the cotton can soak through first. That’s all it takes to prime a Novo pod.
Stock up on Novo pods
Grab a pack in the Novo pod resistance you like, or pick up a new kit. Either way, prime a Novo pod for 2 to 3 minutes before your first puff.
