Our DRAG S3 review in short: VOOPOO packed a 3000mAh battery and up to 60W into a palm-size pod mod kit. It runs on PnP X coils, so the same device can give a tight MTL draw or a looser, cloudier one. Its 5mL DTL pod fills from the side, too.

This DRAG S3 review draws on our product pages and VOOPOO’s coil chart, since the kit is new. It only arrived at our store on September 24, so we can’t share sales numbers for it yet. The coils it uses are a long-time favorite, though. We’ve sold PnP X coils to 290+ customers, and nearly 1 in 3 came back for more.

The DRAG S3 by VOOPOO is a pod mod kit with a rounded zinc alloy body and leather detail, so it sits well in the hand. It runs PnP X coils from 0.2 to 1.0 ohm, and you vape by pressing its fire button rather than just drawing. Shop the DRAG S3.

Good to know: It’s bigger than a slim pod kit, and it tops out at 60W.
Which PnP X coil should you use?
More than anything, the coil decides how the VOOPOO DRAG S3 vapes. VOOPOO’s chart from our coil page shows the draw style and watt range for each one:

MTL means mouth-to-lung, the tightest draw. RDL, or restricted direct lung, is a bit looser, while DTL, or direct-to-lung, is the most open. Start at the low end of each range, then turn it up slowly.
What about the 0.15 ohm coil? That’s the one catch in this DRAG S3 review. It fits, but VOOPOO rates it for 60W to 80W. Since the S3 tops out at 60W, you’d only reach the bottom of that range. For big clouds on this kit, the 0.2 ohm coil is a better match than the 0.15.

Spare pods
The VOOPOO DRAG S3 also takes PnP X pods. Our spare PnP X 2-packs cost $8.99, and each pod holds 5mL. We have the DTL pod in stock right now, and unlike the MTL pod, it fits every PnP X coil.
There’s also an MTL version with a replaceable 510 drip tip. VOOPOO only lists the 0.3 and 0.6 ohm coils for it, though, and it’s out of stock at the moment.
Battery, charging and controls
The VOOPOO DRAG S3 has a 3000mAh battery built in, and it charges over USB-C. Its 0.96-inch screen shows your settings. The fire button unlocks when your skin touches it and locks itself again. Metal or a phone screen can unlock it too, though, so switch to the two-click lock before it goes in your pocket.
Whenever you charge it, follow the FDA’s tips to help avoid vape battery fires. Use a clean, flat surface away from anything that can catch fire, and don’t charge it overnight.
DRAG S3 review: who should buy it?
Get the DRAG S3 if you want a pod mod kit with a big battery, 60W of power and a wide choice of coils. It’s also a good step up from a simple pod kit, because you can grow from MTL to DTL without buying a new device. If you want a slimmer kit for nic salts, though, a smaller pod kit may suit you better.
