Ratings by Coil
SMOK rates each TFV16 coil this way:
| TFV16 coil | SMOK says | SMOK rating |
|---|---|---|
| Mesh 0.17Ω | more stable heating, larger heating area, pure flavor | best at 120W |
| Dual Mesh 0.12Ω | the TFV16 coil with two mesh holes: better wicking, big clouds and rich flavor | 80–160W, best at 120W |
| Triple Mesh 0.15Ω | three mesh holes for a quicker ramp-up | best at 90W |
| Conical Mesh 0.2Ω | Kanthal; warm throat hit and fast heating | 60–85W |
SMOK gives only a best wattage for the mesh and triple mesh TFV16 coils. The conical mesh comes installed in the TFV16 tank of SMOK’s MAG P3 kit.
How to Change a TFV16 Coil
- Empty it: empty the tank, or let it run low.
- Take the base off: unscrew the base from the tank.
- Swap the coil: unscrew the old coil from the base and screw in a new TFV16 coil.
- Refill and wait: put the base back, fill the tank and let it stand for several minutes so the cotton soaks through.
- Set the power: stay within the coil’s rating, starting near SMOK’s best setting.
- Replace it: when the flavor fades or tastes burnt, fit a new coil.
Good to know: These are full-size TFV16 coils. SMOK makes separate TFV16 Lite coils for the TFV16 Lite.
