So the Ultra gives you a much bigger screen and more features, while the Pro 3 is smaller, lighter and cheaper. Otherwise, everything else is the same, as we explain below.

Meet the two kits

Next, here’s a closer look at each OXVA XLIM kit, with who it suits best.

The big difference: the screen

First, the OXVA XLIM 3 Ultra. Its 2.2-inch touch screen works with swipes instead of clicks. For example, you swipe right to change the wattage, left to see your puff logs and down to open the menu. In particular, the puff logs include a live puff counter, a summary of your vaping habits and a long-term trend. You can also pick from three themes and four animations.

The touch screen locks itself after 5 seconds and while you vape, so you won’t change a setting by accident. It also has an anti-fingerprint coating, according to OXVA.

The XLIM Pro 3, on the other hand, keeps things simple. Its 1.05-inch display shows your stats, while one button does everything. For instance, two clicks open the menu, three clicks change the wattage and five clicks turn it on or off.

What’s the same

Under the screen, these two OXVA pod kits are almost identical:

• First, both have a 1500mAh battery and go up to 30W.
• Also, both charge over USB-C at 5V/2A, and OXVA says they reach 80% in about 30 minutes.
• Then, both fire when you draw or when you press the button, and you can lock the button.
• In addition, both have an airflow slider that goes from a tight MTL draw to a looser RDL one.
• Finally, both come with two 3mL XLIM top-fill pods, 0.6 ohm and 0.8 ohm.

MTL means mouth-to-lung, while RDL means restricted direct lung. Meanwhile, each OXVA XLIM kit runs on the Photon chip. However, the Ultra adds what OXVA calls a Super Pulse System, which it says keeps the power steady as the battery runs down.

Whichever kit you choose, follow the FDA’s tips to help avoid vape battery fires. For example, charge it on a clean, flat surface, away from anything that can catch fire, and don’t charge it overnight.

XLIM pods for both kits

Both kits take OXVA’s XLIM top-fill pods and EZ pods in 2mL or 3mL sizes. So one stash of spare pods works in either kit.

At our store, XLIM top-fill 3-packs cost $9.99, or about $3.33 a pod. Each pod holds 2mL, and we stock them in 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.2 ohm, as well as stainless steel coil versions. We also carry the 3mL EZ cartridges at $10.99 for three, though only the 1.2 ohm is in stock right now.

Which resistance should you pick? In general, the 0.4 and 0.6 ohm pods give a warmer vape with more vapor, according to our pod page.
