The Nitecore CI4 Charger is a four-bay USB-C charger for Li-ion, IMR, Ni-MH and Ni-Cd batteries, including 18650s and 21700s. It picks the current for each battery and charges one at up to 3A from a Quick Charge or Power Delivery adapter, or 2A from a standard USB adapter. CI4 Highlights

Up to 3A

With a Quick Charge or Power Delivery adapter, one large Li-ion battery charges at up to 3A. Four share the current at 750mA each, or 500mA each on standard USB.

Automatic Charging

Each bay checks its battery, picks the current from its capacity and switches between CC, CV and −dV/dt charging, then stops when it’s full.

Charge Level Lights

Each bay’s three green lights flash to show the charge level and stay lit when the battery is full. A red light shows it’s charging above 1A.

Built-In Protection

Nitecore lists reverse polarity and short-circuit protection, a 10-hour cutoff for each bay and activation of over-discharged batteries that have protection circuits.

Li-ion batteries under 1000mAh and AA, AAA and C cells charge at 500mA, and D cells at 1A.

Batteries

Charge only rechargeable Li-ion, IMR, Ni-MH or Ni-Cd batteries, never LiFePO4, alkaline or CR123A cells, and don’t leave the charger unattended while it’s plugged in.

How to Use the CI4

Plug it in: connect the USB-C cable from the box to a USB adapter or computer. A Quick Charge or Power Delivery adapter turns on fast charging.
Load the batteries: insert each battery with its ends matching the + and − marks. The CI4 checks it and starts charging.
Watch the lights: the green lights flash as the battery charges and stay lit when it’s full. If three green lights and the red light flash quickly, a battery is in backward or shorted.

Who the CI4 Is For

The Nitecore CI4 suits vapers who charge several 18650 or 21700 batteries at once and want a fast USB-C charger. For a smaller two-bay version, see the CI2.

Good to know: It doesn’t charge LiFePO4 batteries, no wall adapter comes in the box, and the full 3A needs a Quick Charge or Power Delivery adapter.

Nitecore CI4 FAQ

Does it charge 21700 batteries?

Yes. Nitecore lists 21700 and 26700 batteries, along with 18650s and 26650s. We sell IMREN 21700 batteries in 2-packs.

How fast does it charge?

In fast charge: 3A for one large Li-ion battery, 1.5A each for two, 1A each for three and 750mA each for four. Standard USB gives 2A, 1A, 700mA and 500mA.

Can it charge LiFePO4 batteries?

No. Nitecore says it isn’t compatible with 3.2V LiFePO4 batteries, and it can’t fully charge 3.8V Li-ion batteries either. It does charge Ni-MH and Ni-Cd.

What do the lights mean?

Flashing green lights show the charge level, and three steady green lights mean the battery is full. A steady red light means it’s charging above 1A.

Does it come with a wall adapter?

No. It comes with a USB-C cable. Use a Quick Charge or Power Delivery adapter for fast charging, or any USB adapter for standard charging.

How is it different from the CI2?

The CI2 has two bays instead of four and is narrower, with the same lights and 3A top speed for one battery.
