Nitecore Intellicharger New i4 Battery Charger Review
The Nitecore Intellicharger New i4 Battery Charger is a four-bay smart charger for Li-ion, IMR, LiFePO4, Ni-MH and Ni-Cd batteries, including 18650s and flat-top 20700 and 21700 vape batteries. It picks the current for each battery, charges one at up to 1.5A and runs on AC or 9–12V DC. See more from Nitecore or browse all battery chargers.
New i4 Highlights
Up to 1.5A
One large battery charges at up to 1.5A. Nitecore’s Active Current Distribution shares the current when more bays are full, and the New i4 picks a lower current for small batteries.
Automatic Charging
It picks the current from the battery’s capacity, switches between CC, CV and dV/dt charging and stops when the battery is full.
4.35V and LiFePO4
The V button sets 4.35V for high-voltage Li-ion or 3.7V for LiFePO4, and the C button sets the current, bay by bay.
Charge Level Lights
Each bay has lights marked 30%, 80% and 100% for the charge level, plus a light that shows when it’s charging at 1.5A.

New i4 Charge Current
Nitecore gives these currents for the New i4:
| Batteries charging | Current per battery |
|---|---|
| 1 | up to 1500mA |
| 2 | 750mA |
| 4 | 375mA |
Nitecore says the New i4 charges twice as fast as the original i4.
Batteries
Charge only rechargeable Li-ion, IMR, LiFePO4, Ni-MH or Ni-Cd batteries, never alkaline or CR123A cells, and don’t leave batteries charging unattended.
How to Use the New i4
- Plug it in: connect the AC cord from the box, or a 9–12V DC car adapter (sold separately).
- Load the batteries: insert each battery with its ends matching the + and − marks.
- Check the voltage: Li-ion charges to 4.2V unless you change it. For 4.35V or LiFePO4 batteries, set the voltage for that bay with the V button.
- Watch the lights: the 30%, 80% and 100% lights show the charge level, and it stops by itself when the battery is full.
Who the New i4 Is For
The Nitecore New i4 suits vapers with dual-battery mods who want to charge four 18650, 20700 or 21700 batteries at once, at home or, with a car adapter, in the car. For two bays in a smaller charger, the New i2 takes the same batteries.
Good to know: It has charge level lights rather than a voltage readout, and 4.35V or LiFePO4 batteries need the voltage set by hand.
