What is PG and VG E-liquid?

Propylene Glycol (PG) is an organic glycerol made from propylene oxide. It is a thinner and sweeter liquid compared to VG. Typically PG is the more popular E-liquid because of its runny consistency, sweeter flavor, throat kick and easily absorbed in the cartomizers. As the PG heats up, this thinner liquid will not produce heavy amounts of gunk, making it easier to maintain and clean. PG will not alter the taste of your favorite E-liquids.

There is a downside when it comes to PG. In some cases, vapers will have allergic reactions. These allergic reactions range from minor tingling sensations in the throat (due to the throat kick) to serious irritations, causing itchiness and rashes. If you are experiencing these side effects, we recommend you switch to E-liquids which have a higher VG percentage.

Vegetable Glycerin (VG) is a natural organic glycerol made from vegetable oil. VG is a thicker solution, with a mild sweet taste. You will get less of throat kick due to the mild flavoring, however; VG produces much more vapor and doesn’t cause allergic reactions or irritations as often has PG based E-liquids.

The most common mixture of PG/VG is 50/50 or 60VG/40PG. If you are a sub-ohm vaper, these VG/PG E-liquids are perfect. For drippers, we recommend a higher VG/PG ratio E-liquid; 70VG/30PG, 80VG/20PG/ 90VG/10PG and higher.

PG/VG are safe are safe to inhale. Like we previously stated, there are some cases where users may develop allergic reactions like rashes. To correct this, all you need to do is switch to a better E-liquid that is suitable for you.

Which is better, PG or VG? The answer is neither. It all depends on what you want out of the E-liquid. Are going for more flavor with a throat kick? Do you want a mild taste with bigger clouds? Either way, it’s all on the user experience.
